It’s been a year since Hyundai has launched the next-gen Verna in India and in that period has sold 79,608 units. To celebrate the success of the model, the Korean carmaker has launched an anniversary edition of the compact sedan. The anniversary edition Verna will be available in the top-spec SX(O) variant in both petrol and diesel and will come in two new body colours- Marina Blue (which we’ve seen on the Elantra) and Polar White. While the Petrol anniversary edition gets the option of both manual and automatic transmission available at ₹ 11.69 lakh and ₹ 12.83 lakh, the diesel is sold only with the manual gearbox, priced at ₹ 13.03 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

Other than the new body colours, Hyundai has also added some body kit to the exterior of the car in a bid to enhance its visual appeal. The anniversary edition gets faux coloured skid plates both at the front and rear, a shark-fin antenna and a rear duck tail spoiler. While the ORVMs and the antenna on the Marina blue car are finished in black, the Polar white version gets them in the same colour as the body. Additionally, the cars also wear the anniversary edition badge.
At the rear the anniversary edition Verna gets a duck tail spoiler.
The cabin of the car has not been left out. In addition to the sunroof and ventilated seats that the top variant already comes loaded with; the anniversary edition also gets wireless phone charging, black upholstery with contract blue stitching and black dashboard with blue colour accents on the air-con vents.

The Hyundai Verna in India gets three powertrain options, two petrol engines and one diesel engine. The 1.4 litre petrol engine that develops 100bhp and 132Nm of peak torque is only available in the E and the EX trims, hence hasn’t been considered for the anniversary edition. Also, it’s only available with the manual transmission.
The one powering the petrol anniversary edition is the 1.6 litre motor that churns out 121bhp and 151Nm of peak torque and is available in both six-speed manual and automatic transmission options on the SX(O) variant. The diesel is also a 1.6 litre engine that produces 126bhp of max output and 260Nm of peak torque but is only available with the six-speed manual transmission on the SX(O) variant. In the diesel, only the SX variant is sold with the option of an automatic gearbox.
