India comfortably beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets in the Asia Cup Super Four Clash on Friday in Dubai. Led by skipper Rohit Sharma’s (83*) knock, India reached the modest target of 174 runs in 36.2 overs. Both openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan (40) gave India the perfect start as they stitched a 61-run partnership for the first wicket. After Dhawan’s departure, Ambati Rayudu (13) could not stay long as he wa dismissed in the 24th over. India were already in control of the game with Rohit and MS Dhoni at the crease. Dhoni (33) fell in the 36th over but it was too late for Bangladesh to stage any comeback whatsoever.
After winning the toss, Rohit put Bangladesh into bat. Bangladesh got off to an awful start as pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/32) and Jasprit Bumrah (3/37) wreaked havoc with the ball. Bangladesh were reeling at 101/7 when Mashrafe Mortaza (26) and Mehidy Hasan (42) put together some crucial runs helping their team breach the 150-run mark. Ravindra Jadeja (4/29) was the pick of the bowlers for India as he dismissed Shakib Al Hasan (17), Mushfiqur Rahim (21), Mohammad Mithun (9) and Mosaddek Hossain (12) to peg Bangladesh back.
